Photographic safari - Sierra Nevada, Colombia
from the 27th until the 31st of January 2025
The spectacular and unparalleled Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is located in the Colombian Caribbean.
We will stay at the Mountain House Hotel. Upon arrival we will have time to relax and acclimatize after the flight. In the afternoon, we will spend time photographing birds at the hotel and at night we will meet for a welcome dinner, after which we can retire to rest in our comfortable rooms.
The next morning, after breakfast, we will focus on exploring the beautiful and colorful endemic birds. We will visit the feeders and garden flowers in the area, we will be in the field all morning and will return to the hotel at lunch time, after which we will have an hour to rest or to take photos of birds at feeders. In the afternoon we will go out again in search of colorful birds and at night in search of owls.
The next day we will leave the hotel at 4 o'clock in the morning to visit the highest part of the mountain, so we can photograph the sunrise and its landscapes. We will have the highest sunrise in Colombia on the highest coastal mountain in the world. We will return to the hotel at lunchtime and then photograph birds at the feeder.
The next day we will visit one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the area, El Jaguar waterfall. To get there we will have a trip in a 4x4 of approximately 40 minutes and then a walk along an indigenous trail where we can see howler monkeys.
On the photographic safari you will not only learn to photograph wildlife in a respectful manner, you will also meet other people with the same passion as yours to exchange experiences and knowledge, thus giving you a completely pleasant photographic experience.
My main goal as a nature conservation photographer is to provide you with all the tools I have to help you with your further photographic development.
